In what ways do we learn about Leadership?

I have been thinking that Leadership is not a skill that you learn directly, but by developing skills like self-perception, confidence, systems thinking, and interpersonal skills among others.

Usually I find Leadership books very – very – boring and seems to me almost impossible to read them. I compare reading about leadership like starting to build a house by the roof. I am a book lover (or bookworm) especially for those about human development, so I though there was something important to learn regarding to this discomfort on my side.
