My new job gave me a good lesson in finding solutions the other day. It’s a sales job, and I am not naturally inclined to be a salesperson, so I’m being stretched on a regular basis. It’s constantly educational.

I had just failed at selling during yet another appointment. My manager and I had a phone conversation while I sat in the car after leaving. She pointed out I had made one out of seven sales last month and that she wanted to see me at 40 or 50% this month. I was like, me too! But I didn’t know how to get there, and the training materials and the scripted sales pitch weren’t cluing me in.
