Several people had warned me how art will destroy my life and leave me destitute. They gave me the similar advice that I cannot live with art on its own, a talent unable to improve a life — useless, idealistic. The life of the artist will not make him better. He will not gain anything apart from his quirk to imitate a reality for his visual pleasure.
Some people are lucky to make a living out of their art. Some are not. But the true artist knows that he will not choose his profession of an artist over his being as an artist. There is a difference. The artist as a profession is not free, because he makes art that is restricted by economic and external favors that ties him with strings.
