I made the mistake of listening to others for advice when it came to my choice of education. They all knew one thing, that I like to write stories. Of course, a profession in journalism was the number one direction they suggested me to pursue. How wrong they were. Even though it’s a logical conclusion to make.
I couldn’t stand it after only a few months. Because the stories I enjoy writing are fictional.
Another advice, from my father no less, suggested that I should restrict myself to a simple job such as a carpenter or forklift driver. To be fair, he also told me that it’s only a foundation for potential developments.
He’s a simple man, so I have long since given up trying to convince him that it’s a better idea to choose a path more in tune to my desires.
