Everyone wants their mission statement to sing, but how does an organization make theirs memorable? Here are some pointers that might help an organization spruce up its appeal to would-be donors and even “beat the competition.”
Start with a vision of a perfect future if the organization succeeded. That will force the organization to focus on what it is trying to accomplish. A good place to start is with the organization’s mission and objectives.
From that base, decide how the organization is going to get there from where it is today. Does the organization’s mission statement facilitate its vision? If not, how does the organization’s mission statement need to change, who can change the mission statement, and who can change the delivery of services so different outcomes result?
