Customers are people too

Today I read an article about personal branding.

If this is the first time you’ve heard about personal brands then we don’t read the same magazines or blogs. For those of you who are out of the loop, here’s a wikipedia description:

Personal branding is the practice of people marketing themselves and their careers as brands. While previous self-help management techniques were about self-improvement, the personal-branding concept suggests instead that success comes from self-packaging.

I had to do what the article said. I needed to know what my brand was. My tagline. I opened up MS Paint, drew some circles, and started branding myself.

The first problem I ran into is that I’m a little shit. I have a hard time taking any of this seriously. My list of “emotional appeal” words were:

  • Insightful
  • Systematic
  • Rational
  • Persistent
  • Logical
  • Derisive
  • Sarcastic
  • Sardonic
  • Moody
  • Imaginative
  • Intuitive
  • Compassionate
  • Idealistic
